40k Orks Nobs The bigger they are the harder they fight.

Nobs are the backbone of any ork army and these guys are at the top of the food chain, and they certainly need to look the part. I have done many different types of nobs over the years. I was lucky enough to pick up some of these from a friend who didn't need them anymore, and I am already thinking about maybe organising them into a unit to represent some ork eavy armour boys.

I've also been a big fan of the old metal warboss model, which I have managed to include in some of these conversions which, gives them a sense of scale probably one of my most favourite models.

Some Ork Big Choppa Nob Conversions

It has been a little bit quiet over recent weeks on my blog, but it's probably been the busiest time in my hobby for some while, and below is one of the most recent  projects I have just finished, for a tournament I attended last weekend. I'm sure I can say this for everyone, we all have some projects that just seem to sit at the back of a shelf, gathering dust needing to be completed and this was no exception.  So let's get this job done.

(Update 1) Not the best picture in the world but I've started, on the first undercoat and Skin.

(Update 2) So I have already started to highlight, and I'm going to put on some inks to tone down the colours a little.

(Update 3) Nearly finished, Just a couple of bits and pieces to finish off and I'll be done.

(Update 4) And I have also managed to do a little bit of work on their backs.

(Update 5) Job done.

From start to finish, overall this project took about 3 hours while watching some TV, and looking back really enjoyable.

My New Warboss And Nob Biker Conversions Part 2

Well it looks like the end is near in sight, and the unit is about 90% complete and I have made a few changes, to a couple of things. So I wonder who's going to be the first one to notice what they are.
I think this is the best bit of the hobby that I really like, is when you start to see your project come to life as it's nearing completion, because for some strange reason it all seems to come together.

 –

I have also expanded the nob squad to 7 which I'm hoping to have ready for my next tournament.

I originally did a different banner but I think this one is more in keeping with the unit over all.

From the back you can never have too many trophies, that's what it's all about, although I don't know why he has a spanner as if, he would fix anything anyway.

I decided to add another PK to the unit as it will give much needed punch, in CC.

I've also added the units pain boy and his saw is probably the best bit.

And if you have any project yourselves that you need help with by all means make contact.

More Progress Of My Converted Nob Bikers.

So with no opponent to play tonight with my local gaming group it give me a little bit more time to spend on these Nob's, so it's time for another update

It's the first time these guys have been together and they are looking quite menacing.

So now the boss has something to command .

I've never had a reputation of being tidy :) but as you can see below it looks very neat.

So all being well I'll finally get round to putting on some paint on these guys so until then.

My New Warboss And Nob Bike's Conversions

With 40k 6th edition released there's no better time to start nob bikers, accompanied with a new war boss. So with that in mind I started converting more of these bad boys to add to my collection. So below you will see some of the most recent pictures I have taken of the project in hand.

it's always important to have a good boss pole.

from the back you can see all of his most recent trophies.

and no Ork warboss would be without his trusted companions, if there is such a thing should.

I'm really pleased the way they have turned out so far, especially with the boss Pole, as I have taken it of the trucks sprue, so I have finally got a purpose for it after all. also if you look a little bit closer I have model nails onto their boss Poles, which I will use as a rank structure, i.e. the more you have the higher up you are with in the gang.

below you can see that I still am midway converting a big shoota on this guy.

And there you have it short and sweet this time but I think the pictures speak for themselves, so if you have any suggestions or questions don't forget to ask them below.

So before you go can you guess what clan these guys are from?

My Converted Ork Nob Bikers Unit Update Part 2

So with a 1000pts 40k tournament this weekend this is currently on my to-do list, to get them finished. And I am quite pleased when it turned out. As I said in my last post and quite late to the party when it comes to nob bikers, and in this post I'm going to update yourself in regards to progress and how things are coming on. So make sure you look at  My Converted Ork Nob Bikers unit Part 1 as things are moving along quite nicely.

The biggest change  is, I decided to do mudguards on the front wheels, as I think it makes them a little bit more chunkier, which in turn makes the model as a whole a little bit more unique on the table. I want them to get recognised for the old bikes but I do want them to be a little bit different.

Above you can see a close-up shot of the mud guard and looking at the front keeps the unit a little bit more up-to-date.

Sorry but I'm not going to go into a lot of detail in regards to the exhaust fumes, as I'm going to leave it to another post to go into a little bit more detail.

I also decided to shorten the barrel's of all the big shooters on the bikes as I think it looks a little bit better.

Probably the most important nob in the whole unit with his power claw, I also still have to do is WHAAAA banner, although I have a sneaky plan which hopefully might save some time.

When it came to doing the shoota/skorcha Kombi-weapon, I really was struggling on what the best way was, considering he is wielding a two-handed axe, it was becoming quite difficult, but sometimes simplicity is the best option. So after a little bit of trial and error I decided that this was probably the best way by simply removing one of the big shoota's.

So there you have it another day another update so enjoy.

My Converted Ork Nob Bikers unit.

Well for some Nob biker's mightn't be anything new, but for me this is the first time I've ever tried to convert them on bikes, and overall I'm very pleased the way they have turned out. There's something about the old bike models that in every sense is a true classic, and now a days somewhat overlooked.

So from the start I didn't exactly know if it could be done but it turned out to be very simple, I used a mix of black reach nobs and also from the Nob box set that GW sales.

I have already done a ork pain boy you can see him here for yourself before but I wanted to do something a little bit different than normal, this was the only head that I thought that was appropriate for such a model as it does show off some surgery of some kind which is handy considering.

Quite a simple dirty syringe conversion, I think I could do better, but with time being limited, sometimes doing something simple is just the best option.

As always I do try to create movement within the model to try and turn them into a mini diorama and this was no exception as I think it's definitely justified and adds movement to the overall effect of the unit, on the tabletop.

Below is the first, PK within the unit and I definitely wanted him to stand out. As you can see, I have modelled it so the bike is coming down on its front tyre, which makes him look like he's about to cleave someone in two.

By the look of it the second has already his target in his sights.

I think in this picture you can see that the old bikes really do complement the new nob models, and I was actually very surprised how well they work together, so like any wedding there should be something old something new something blue, well more like red.

And finally considering they have a 4+ cover save, I modelled the exhaust fumes. Hopefully in the near future I'm going to post up a tutorial how to do it for yourself,

So by no means are these guys finished as I still have a lot to do before they can get primed and painted, so until them, make sure you stay tuned for the next update.
