How To Convert Ork Dakkajet's Update 3

Hobby life can be quite demanding, so over the last couple of days I have managed to spend a bit more time with my Dakkajet's, so in the below pictures you can see the progress that I have made so far.

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail with the exhaust, smoke as I'm going to do another post showing how I do it in a tutorial, but you can see it's quite simple and the effect is well worth the time and effort.

I almost feel very sorry for this one as he's hanging on for a grim death, plus it add's a little character as it's always good to have something funny going on.

So progress is coming on very well and hopefully in the not too distant future, I'm finally going to get around to start painting them.

So over the last couple of weeks I've been spending a little bit more time on this project, and with a tournament hopefully in December, I am keen to get them finished, and ready for the tabletop, but as always I like to put my own stamp on things and make mine a little bit more individual something I am really pleased with so hopefully you can tell what I've done in the pictures below.

when I first saw the new models I wasn't a great fan of the front, so by adding this grill it makes them look like they have their own ork face.

With holidays coming up over the next couple of weeks. I hope to have more progress for you guys to see.

How to Convert Ork Dakkajet's.

So a couple of weeks ago I managed to treat myself by getting 3 of these bad boys, and as you can see with help from my 2 little Gretchen, you can check out the results so far.

I think by having the guns positioned here makes them look a lot better.

I must admit that I am really impressed with the GW kit so far, and I am really looking forward to the way they are going to turn out. All being well and going to make them slightly different, that will help make them a little bit more individual.

My FORGE WORLD Dakkajet Part 4 How To Make It A Little Bit More Unique, and I am nearly finished

So I thought it was about time that I uploaded some more pic's, of what progress I have made over the last couple of days, and as you see it is definitely coming along.

From start to finish the project has been really enjoyable and he is starting to come to life, so hopefully you will agree and check out the pictures.

These are actually Forge world fuel tanks that a very good friend of mine give me, not so long ago. So they have definitely come in handy.

The big man himself in all his glory, I'm really looking forward to getting him painted up.

 I decided to add a some plastic card around the cockpit as there was gaps showing.

So I think he's nearly finished and in my next post and going to start painting. I haven't quite decided what colour he is going to be but I'm sure whatever it is he's going to stand out.

My FORGE WORLD Dakkajet Part 3 How To Make It A Little Bit More Unique.

So over the last few days I have managed to spend a little bit more time on this bad boy. Hopefully I will get him finished in the next couple of weeks.

As you can see I'm quite a fan of using wiremesh as it definitely keeps with the overall ork look. I've also added a couple more bits of plastic card, which in turn make's the model a little bit more unique.

I'm really pleased the way the guns have turned out

Still a little bit more work to do in regards to it's stand, so hopefully I'll be able to show more progress soon.

So there you have it, I'm going to be on the lookout on eBay for another Forge world model, as there's something about it I really like.

My FORGE WORLD Dakkajet Part 2 How To Make It's Own Flyer Stand

So following on from my previous post, in this one I'm going to update yourselves in regards to progress, that I am making in regards to it's stand.

Of course like everyone I could just simply go out and buy one from GW, but as always the cheapest option for me was to do it myself. I already made a stand some years ago, but the GW one look's so much better and slightly smaller I thought it was about time that I would do my own. So to start things off it was quite simple just simply drill a hole and have some cylinder plastic card available. Just make sure you angle it when sticking it down, after all you want to make it look like it's flying through the air.

You can pick up these see-through cylinder stands at any local craft shop for next to nothing.

All the pictures are pretty self-explanatory.

Just make sure it fits, as it makes it durable whilst playing and it's important that they fit very snugly.

All I will need to do is fill in the hole with some green stuff and it's job done.

So there you have it nice and simple.

My FORGE WORLD Dakkajet Part 1 How To Make It A Little Bit More Unique.

Well it's been awhile since I have updated my blog recently, as my hobby time has been spent elsewhere, but over the next couple of weeks, I will hopefully post a lot more regularly so this is what I find myself working on today.

And it's been a long time coming considering I got this model way back in 2003, so it has been gathering a lot of dust, but with the recent revival of flyers in 6th there's no better time to get this project up and running.

So with a little  work you can easily make your project look a little bit more unique.

I've used this technique before with some success as a makes it look like it's flying through the air.

It didn't quite look great that its wings stop so suddenly, so I modelled a little fin which in turn gives it a little bit more of a better look.

I also wanted to update its Gunz which in turn give it a little bit more of a Dakka look. 

Using plastic card that looks like Sheetmetal makes it a little bit more individual, and it is always worthwhile having some at hand.

So there you have it, and with a little bit of conversion work, it makes all the difference and all being well I'm on the look on ebay to see if I can pick up another one.
